Abstract

Ovaj rad predstavlja procjenu solarnog potencijala svih krovova unutar područja grada Karlovca i njegove okolice. Kako su današnji osnovni izvor energije fosilna goriva, koja su neobnovljivi izvor, ukazala se potreba za iskorištavanjem sunčeve energije kao obnovljivog izvora energije. Krovovi se pokazuju kao odlična lokacija za postavljanje fotonaponskih sustava zbog mogućnosti iskorištavanja već postojeće površine te mogućnosti decentralizacije proizvodnje energije. Zbog toga je potrebno kvalitetno modelirati solarni potencijal. Rad se temelji na korištenju LIDAR podataka i geografskih informacijskih sustava (GIS) da bi se kvalitetno modelirao solarni potencijal krovova. Pomoću LIDAR podataka kreiran je digitalni model terena (DMT) iz kojega su dobiveni nagib i orijentacija krova. Kako bi se postigao što bolji model usporedile su se dvije metode računanja solarnog potencijala: koristeći GRASS GIS te koristeći SAGA GIS. Provedena je i analiza kojom su se utvrdili nagib te orijentacija krova koji omogućuju postizanje visokih vrijednosti solarnog potencijala. Rezultati ovog rada pokazuju da su razlike između dviju metoda minimalne, pri čemu SAGA GIS pruža brže rezultate. Utvrđeno je da manji nagib krova ljeti, a veći zimi, omogućavaju bolji solarni potencijal, da je ljetni solarni potencijal najizraženiji, te da se južna strana krova pokazala kao najpovoljnija orijentacija. To omogućuje utvrđivanje povoljnih lokacija za postavljanje fotonaponskih sustava da bi se postigla njihova što bolju učinkovitost. Iz toga su razloga ovi rezultati korisni svima koji su zainteresirani za iskorištavanje obnovljivih izvora energije. Ukratko, ovim radom ukazuje se na korisnost LIDAR podataka i GIS sustava u promicanju korištenja obnovljivih izvora energije te modeliranju solarnog potencijala.

Abstract (english)

This paper presents an assessment of the solar potential of all rooftops within the area of the city of Karlovac and its surroundings. As today's primary energy source are fossil fuels, which are non-renewable, a need to harness solar energy as a renewable energy source has arisen. Roofs are proving to be an excellent location for installing photovoltaic systems due to the possibility of utilizing existing surfaces and the potential for decentralizing energy production. Therefore, it is necessary to accurately model the solar potential. The study is based on the use of LIDAR data and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to accurately model the solar potential of rooftops. Using LIDAR data, a digital surface model (DSM) was created, from which the slope and orientation of the roof were derived. To achieve the best possible model, two methods of calculating solar potential were compared: using GRASS GIS and using SAGA GIS. An analysis was also conducted to determine slope and orientation of the roof where solar potntial achieves high vaues. The results of this study show that the differences between the two methods are minimal, with SAGA GIS providing faster results. It was found that a lower roof slope in summer and a steeper slope in winter allow for better solar potential, that the summer solar potential is most prominent, and that the southern side of the roof proved to be the most favorable orientation. This enables the identification of favorable locations for installing photovoltaic systems to achieve maximum efficiency. For this reason, these results are useful to all those interested in utilizing renewable energy sources. In summary, this paper highlights the usefulness of LIDAR data and GIS systems in promoting the use of renewable energy sources and modeling solar potential.
